Megan Wilburn

Megan Wilburn is a native Houstonian and the Founder and Executive Director of MOVE, a nonprofit dedicated to holistically developing students in underserved communities through physical fitness and group counseling. As a product of the communities she now serves, Megan recognized how the lack of safe spaces to address mental health was fueling cycles of premature death, incarceration, and academic failure. She began her career in education as an intern, later becoming a Special Education Coordinator, and after earning her Master’s degree from the University of St. Thomas, she served as a school counselor. Through these roles, she witnessed firsthand how unaddressed trauma and limited emotional support impacted students’ long-term outcomes.

Since its conception, MOVE has introduced these tools to over 500 students through community events, workshops, and weekly programming in high schools. Today, Megan uses MOVE to intentionally connect physical and mental health, equipping students with the tools to resolve conflict, manage stress, express emotions effectively, and build the confidence needed to become mentally and physically healthy adults.
